How stickerly will tournament staff be about conversions?

I'm looking at an idea to use Tyrant Guard torsos + some converted legs and weapons to make Elite Carnifexes for a lot cheaper than buying 3 more 'fex kits.

If I did this, would they be usable at Games Day, or would I be better off planning for plan B?

Actually, I'm semi-ripping off an Aussie guy with a similar idea I talked to today.

Here's how it's gonna work.

Take: Tyrant Guard Torso
4 Scything Talons from the TMC sprues.
Weapons (in my case, twin-linked Devourers, which I'm gonna sculpt into Over-Unders for each arm)
Monster Base

Each talon goes in the "leg" slots on the Tyrant Guard fig. Pitch them so he stands upright on them, then attach the base to the 'tips' of the talons.

Mount the weapons in the "arm" slots.

Instant Fex.

Also, while I've got you - Pinning. How the hell do I do it, and is there a guide anywhere? I'm working on the wings for my Flyrant, but I think I'm going to need to pin them to keep them in place.

Pinning is super easy. You'll need a small hand drill of some kinda. Pin vises allow you to do it by hand, but if you have a dremel, it's even easier.

Basically, through whatever means, take a drill bit that is equal to or SLIGHTLY large than the diameter of a rod. larger paper clips work great.

Using your prefered method, drill a hole, atleast 1/8th inch into the each part, such that the holes line up. The deeper you can do it, the better.

Clip out a piece of paperclip (or other source of pin). Test fit the length.

Put a dab of glue on one end, and insert it into one of the holes. Dab of glue on the other end, and on the socket, where you'd normally apply glue. Slide the piece onto the pin, so that it sits however you want it. Hold until glue holds. Bam. Done.

Alternatively, if you use a rotary tool, you can do like I do with some parts. Pose, and hold the parts with one hand. Drill straight through one, into the other. removes the guess work of making sure the holes line up. However, you have to fill in the hole on the outside, and doesn't work well with some parts.
