Network outage went relatively smoothly, but the email system seems fucked. And of course, our new Sysadmin is refusing to come in 'after hours' to restart the server, because he hasn't finished clarifying the overtime part of his contract yet.
If I ever get to be a sysadmin, especially for a major college, please remind me of tonight as a good reason why sometimes you -do- things, even if you may not get paid for it. I know I'm hurting for lack of email (messages are queueing, but not distributing), and I know I'm not the only one.
All it would take is 5 minutes. He walks into the server room. Initates shutdown. Restarts. Done.
