May. 27th, 2006 11:16 amX3 in a nutshell:
It's a popcorn movie after 2 somewhat more intellectual ones. It has a lot of moments, and it has some horrible "catchphrase" lines.
If you like the franchise (comic or movie), you'll get your $7 out of it, but probably have questions/concerns/scorn.
For my $.02...
Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut = HELL YEAH.
Magneto re: Mystique's fate - yes, he was pretty cold there. But remember he was also surrounded by Brotherhood, and new recruits at that, and he has to project a certain attitude around them if he wants to keep control over many of them. That's one of the problems with leading by demagougery.
Arclight - pretty convinced this was Chris Tucker in bad drag.
Plot hole I just realized: Plastic guns, plastic "cure cartridge"....very obviously metal needles on the tip of each "magneto proof" bullet.
Oops.
Oh, well. Still a good night out, and the evening's reflection/storytelling/alcoholism at Barleys before and the Char Bar after were well worth it.
Wandered through MarCon to see if we could spot people and take them out for a bit - from what I saw, it's increasingly BarCon, with many people going to the "party floors" more than the convention. Most of what we saw in the public areas around 10 seemed to be LARPers and people who hadn't gone to the party floor yet. Sad face.
I remember when the Big Bar on 2 used to be the "hang out" location for everyone, and a great place to reconnect with people. Ah, nostalgia...
