I tried to vote. I got a nice confirmation letter that because I didn't update my address until after 9/30, I couldn't vote at the polling place down the road - I'd have to go to my old precinct in Dublin.

I got up early. I went over. I stood in line.

And then I was told that the letter was wrong, and that I would have to go to Hilliard and cast a provisional ballot.

Unfortunately, because of traffic this morning, I had the choice of going to try and vote again, or getting to work on time, so I'll run out at lunch and try this again.

I was not the only person with this problem, at least. I was told by the poll workers that 4 other people had come in with the exact same problem - one even brought his printout from the board of elections webpage saying that he was supposed to vote in Dublin.

Cute, huh?

Well, we'll see what happens in about 2 hours. If I'm able to vote there, we're fine.

If not, I'm making some phone calls.

If you don't mind me asking, what party are you registered?

Unaffiliated - lets me vote in both Primaries if I choose to.

Lucky you... PA has party only primary laws.

I can't vote in primaries for that reason (registered Libertarian).

Actually, (I just learned this this year) in Ohio we are not really registered with a party. Each primary we have to verbally declare which ballot we want. So although one may have a consistent record of voting Democrat or Republican they are not really registered as such. I have a friend running for office who explained it much more eloquently and with the correct terms but that's the gist of it:)

Ahh, interesting. I usually just put independent or unaffiliated on my forms, so I figured it got recorded somewhere.

I know the frustration. This year, AGAIN, my absentee ballot has outright failed to arrive. This is getting quite irritating.
