As a counterpoint to how my "vacation" day went (hah!), Mssrs. Rood called and asked if they could drop by with a big sack of Guitar Hero and awesome. (GH 1&2, guitars, and snacks.)

The best way to describe the next 5 hours after they arrived is "Curry-Fueled Rockfest." I was pretty damned chuffed with myself for pulling a 96% on I Wanna Be Sedated my first time out, Easy or not, and Alex also took to it without much difficulty. Even better, when we started to open up the Co-Op, I found myself frequently the Bass of Choice on quite a few songs, and even got to unlock the Gibson Cherry SG Bass for Jon and Justin. (Which, I might add, looks like Pure Sex.)

Even Lisa tried it, after she got home from work, and at least found it interesting, though she really wasn't up for playing it past the tutorials tonight.

Looks like it's definently on the list of "Shit We Want" for after Christmas.

The only thing I wonder about (and [livejournal.com profile] dklegman thinks -could- be solved with the Xbox 360 version) is a bit bigger Guitar controller. The stock ones from the GH I and GH II boxes aren't bad, but the neck of the guitar's about 3 inches too short, off hand. If it was just that little tad longer, my arm'd be much more comfortable on the fretboard. As it is, I felt like my elbow was starting to tense up too much after a few songs, especially if I was doing a lot of hammer-offs. (Thunderhorse, I'm looking at you.)

Still, one of the best games I've played in awhile, and I really enjoyed getting to rawk it out. I've been kinda-sorta thinking about getting it for awhile now, and this has pushed me over the edge.

(Though part of me is also debating...Xbox 360, if the GH II controller's larger, could solve that problem...I'd just have to buy a 360, which I keep thinking about for Halo 3, Chromehounds, and Gears of War...hmmmmmm...it'd have to wait for my Bonus, probably, but...)
