...guess I better do that, then.
Jan. 8th, 2007 12:43 pmYay for taking a couple days off of work. I've still been busy cleaning up the house a bit, but it's far different from the craziness at work. (And even with my OOO message up, 88 email messages from 8am to 1pm from people. Oye.)
However, I am not here to complain about work.
I thought, instead, I'd write about Lisa. Several people have been asking me about how we're doing, or how she is, because I used to write about her constantly, and that's tapered off.
Which, I suppose, is a good place to start, right?
I think part of why I've not written about her as much is that as we've lived together longer, it's less and less about the newness of the relationaship, or the quirks of sharing space. More and more, the edges and corners get rubbed down, smoothed off, and slide together a bit gentler than they did before.
I still love her just as much as I did when we first met, but instead of being at the front of my mind, it's a background noise. She's always there, and always a part of my day, but she doesn't always dominate it.
Which, really, is a pretty good way to describe how we've been. Lisa's making a lot of friends around Hilliard, particularly with some other women her age around the neighborhood, which is great, and I'm doing more with the 40k group, or messing about with things at home. But we come home, and we're there for each other, and we make sure to have time for each other - even if it's just running about on Saturday going to shops Lisa wants to hit, then go out for lunch or dinner before she goes to see Leah and the other girls. On Sundays, I usually try to spend some time with her before we disappear to go play 40k over in Pataskala, and every weekday I'm taking her to classes at OSU and kissing her goodbye, and picking her up at night and kissing her hello. We drive home and usually catch up on how our days went, and then bed.
I'm also really, really proud of her for going back to school with OSU, and I've made sure she knows that, too.
It's not the most romantic life in the world (though I try to sneak a few in, now and then, and she's still good at surprising me at just the right time), but it's very comfortable, and we're both happy.
Besides, then there are times like this morning, before I took her downtown, and I looked up from the couch to see her, and she'd never looked quite so beautiful, so I stole a kiss and told her so.
Beyond that, it's been a day and Onyx is still trying to kill himself in new and exciting fashions, so things are pretty much normal...

Date: 2007-01-09 04:17 am (UTC)She's really getting into sociology, and she's seriously debating what it'd take to get a bachelor's in it with help of the cont'd ed department.
Education around here is a very over-filled barrel, so she's not looking at going back to teaching right now, though I have quietly brought up that if she finished her LPN, she could probably get a job at any of the area hospitals really easily. Mt. Carmel in particular is pretty desperate for nurses from what I understand.
