Another morning. )

I've been told that if I liked Versus (And I will look for a copy [livejournal.com profile] spiralpegasus. The copy I saw came from a private import collection.) I really apparently need to see Junk, which is the 'quintessential Japanese Zombie Movie.'

The fact that several reviewers compare it to Versus is a good sign for me.

Also I apparently need to see Wild Zero, as it seems to complete the Japanese Gun-Fu/Zombies/Action triad.

Anyone know good pipelines for these? Preferrably on DVD?

Wow.

Argh.

Parents called.

I only asked them 2 days ago if they could please bring the VCR and 3 books with them. I only told them exactly where to find all 3 books and the VCR.

So of course they didn't have the time to do it.

There are times I feel tempted to treat my family as I would a particularly rude waiter. Do I give them a 10% christmas present instead of a 15%?

In the case of the upcoming fathers day, stiffing the check never looked so attractive.

Actually, given that the first words out of my Mom's mouth were "But you said you could come down Saturday if we didn't bring them, right?", I suspect that this is something of a ploy to make sure I visit, bring some form of card for said holiday, and perhaps give Dad a gift.

The potential of leaving the state in a few years and never coming back near them is occasionally overwhelmingly sweet.

Revising travel plans.

After B-WISER this week, and after the Canada crew comes through and leaves, I think I'm heading to Pittsburgh.

It's gonna be an interesting trip in the Chinese sense of the term, I fear.

So. I survived family outing one of three. (Yes, my parents /did/ in fact suggest that I should have a Father's Day Lunch with them while I'm down Saturday. Anyone who bet on that, please collect winnings.)

So. My Fair Lady. Some was good. Some not. Honestly, a troupe well trained to do Gilbert and Sullivan don't really do Lerner and Lowe all that well. On the other hand, there were some bright spots.

I still really prefer Pygmalion's ending, but the Henry Higgins and Mrs. Higgins tonight were really awesome. The actor who played Higgins, Ted Christopher, really knew how to nail the role.

On the other hand, the people behind me constantly talking about things not even related to the fucking show were rather annoying. If I could sprout prehensile tentacles of death, they'd be so fucking evicerated. Rip. Schrip. SHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRED.

Mmmm. Prehensile tentacles of death.

So. Tomorrow night a late dinner with the grandparents (Good!) and Saturday, well...we deal with family.

Sunday I spend helping with the B-WISER conference.

Monday or Tuesday (I forget!!!) the Canada Contingent arrives. Then the week gets boring. But then the Canada people come back!
