TNG was great once everybody figured out how to work with it. The latter part of Season 3 and most of Season 4 were some fine SF TV. The franchise started going nose-down when Roddenberry died and others began running things. And opening a shaky looking Star Trek movie right before Harry Potter opened was flat-out dim. All that said, I still think Wrath of Khan is the high-water-mark for all things Trek.
I don't like to directly compare Babylon 5 to Star Trek since they do different things which both happen to involve space. ;-)

Date: 2003-05-07 08:42 pm (UTC)Admittedly, I didn't like the original as much as TNG, and Babylon 5 did it better, and Roddenberry was a hack who just sold good writers, but...GEEZ.
*obligatory IMO Star Trek rant*
