A client is entitled to the best defense possible. The fact that this travesty is the best defense possible says a lot about his clients. Not so much about him - even guilty fuckers deserve defense attorneys.

I think that getting them off the hook is the job of the defense, and that they deserve to have their case advocated as effectively as possible. That's a basic premise of our legal system - that everyone will have their defense argued as well as possible, no matter how vile. Because it's only when we let the most vile assholes be defended that we can really trust that we'd be defended ourselves.
