Sonofabitch!

After reading the Eyrie stuff that you've been linking, the idea of Team Banzai having a tuning session with the Megas XLR team has been firmly stuck in my head. I can't write for Eyrie - I think I'd need about five years to get the history down and avoid horrid continuity wrenches.

This leads to a fanfic feedback loop in my brain, now... *grumble*

Also the following snippet came to mind:

Shifting in the backseat of the Barracuda in vauge hopes of crash-survival, Kiva winced as Megas accelerated into the asteroid field, the Salthis still on their tail.

"Relax," Coop drawled, "I can shake 'em while you get the jams cleared. I saw this in a movie once!"

"You /always/ say you've seen it in a movie. What sort of movie could possibly give you any idea on how to navigate a hostile asteroid field at full tilt while enemy fighters are doing their best to destroy us?" Arm deep in what Coop had left of the weapons control module, Kiva dearly wished she could grab the big motorhead by the scruff of the neck, but settled for the interlocks.

"Bullit! Best car chase ever."

"Which has to do with Asteroids...?"

"Asteroid field, San Francisco...actually, this is a little easier than San Francisco."

"Except for the landmines." Jamie's laconic warning came as a silvery orb near the robot's arm started to pulse a threatening red.

"Ahh. Yeah."

That last bit? Was basically the only part of last night's dreaming that I could remember. Though I can imagine Buckaroo Banzai and Pretty Boy being a mix of pleased and disgusted by Coop's control modifications to the Barracuda. Awesome car. Bad wiring.

Now, the question is, since it is Eyrie, would Buckaroo Banzai and the various parts of Team Bazai (Blue Blazer Bravos, Hong Kong Cavaliers) be integrated with their Battletech Homages? Maybe Dr. Buckaroo Anthony Banzai was responsible for helping design the new "Hatchetman" security Destroid...

ARGH! I have too many things to write someday as it is...

Dr. Banzai and his team are missing-presumed-dead in the wake of the 'Sonset' incident that ends the Core UF Story 3. That question's come up a few times in the Forums (including from one fellow who, if he ever appeared in person to Ardaniel, would end up looking like a man fell into a thresher within ninety seconds). So no, we won't be seeing Team Banzai.

We do have an idea as to where the Megas crew are, and just need to find a way to show them.

Missing and presumed dead? Oy....

Were they mixed with the Battletech counterparts at all, or simply lifted from their main canon?

As to the Megas crew - Dude. If there's a burger joint, there's a way.

Team Banzai were straight-up canonical.

*nods* Makes sense - a lot of the tie ins made for/with them into the Battletech universe got buried pretty quickly, so it's kinda obscure. Hell, I think they were even edited out of the re-printed Warrior trilogy.

Besides, I get the feeling Eyrie probably doesn't need that many more Mechs running around...

Once we got a lock on the God of Mecha, our needs were fairly well-covered.

As for a Banzai/ Megas crossover, you might as well work on one of your own devising; I don't see anything really EPU-specific there.

*nods* Like I just told Indigo, I really have too many writing projects sitting around as it is...maybe at some point, tho.

Well, the BTech crossovers were just in-jokes because the FASA crew were such huge fans, and then their legal department said they could get into lots of trouble, so Team Banzai got killed off in the war that culminated in the creation of the Federated Commonwealth.

Well, yes and no - you still see some references to Banzai and their works in flavor text until about 3052 and the early Clan incursions...but yeah. You know why it happens, but at the same time, it's still cool they were there at all.

As I read said Core UF story: Wow. This Paul gent who got Ben Dixon'd either begged way to hard for a cameo, or don't piss the author off...

Hooboy. I created a monster.

Honestly, all I can give is a maybe. I really have too many writing snippets/projects running around as it is.

Would it be useful if I offered help as BB consultant?

I actually was a Blue Blaze in good standing for years, and I know a significant amount about the universe they didn't put in the movie. Plus I have the special edition DVD.

*grins* Maybe. We'll see.

But I really should staunch a few holes before opening new ones, first.

Do you still have the fanfic with the incompetent supervillain and his practical assistant discussing past mistakes, with the assistant pointing out that the supervillain had taken hostages and riled up the superhero, who summarily came and wrecked the lab? It was written as if there was a presentation ongoing, it was written well, and it was fucking hilarious.

I believe you are referring to

That was actually an RP scene that [livejournal.com profile] spartanfan and I did ...might be in my journal or on one of his logpages, somewhere.

Yes. That is exactly what I am looking for. Linkage would be much appreciated.

Y'know, I watched Bullit, and frankly I wasn't all that impressed. Dad said it was the bee's knees back then (showing his age), but...I just didn't find it interesting at all. Same with Gone In 60 Seconds. One of the few movies where the remake improved on the original.

There were some good bits in the car chase, but Castle of Cagliostro's was much more fun to watch.

I think the big thing about Bullitt was that it showed a car chase could be more than two-dimensional.

Besides, it was my first big car chase movie, and I'm a sentimental dork.

I'm going to assume that your lack of mentioning The Empire Strikes Back here is a deliberate statement of some sort. :) 'Cause, y'know, asteroid field, hostile fighters trying to kill the Falcon, etc, etc...

Well, for one, ESB doesn't neccesarily exist in the universe I was writing on. :D Also because Coop's far more likely to watch Steve McQueen and Pro Wrestling than Star Wars. :D
