I said that about V for Vendetta, and then they shot the whole film in 3 weeks. My hopes for V for Vendetta are also in the toilet.

Considering what they've done to all of Moore's other seminal comics, I wasn't holding out much hope for quality or faithfulness to the source material. It probably would've made it into some big angstfest like Dawson's Creek and turned all the characters into hip 20-somethings.

I could see that, but I could also see ways the live action could be done. There aren't so many flashback sequences that it'd be difficult.

1&2 weren't Shakespeare, but they weren't half bad. There was fairly strong storytelling, and quite a few scenes that spoke volumes about characters without words. (X2 - Wolverine putting a hand to the wall of ice, while Stryker's on the other side. X1 - Rogue watching kids playing basketball.)

I'd like it to be at least a half-decent story.
