Ok, here's one of my odder questions for you people:

Anyone know of a good source for older style Kransekake pans?

My grandmother's have cracked, and she really wants the style with many individual rings, rather than the "modern style" sets with 3 rings per pan, and 6 pans to a cake. (She feels the new ones lead to the rings breaking when you have to get them out of the molds.)

I've tried a search of eBay and several cooks shops, and it seems like they only have the modern ones out there. I suspect I'm going to need to deal with an antique dealer, either in Europe or the US, but I've got no good sources for that sort of thing.

Help?

Remove yourself from the Net, call a few Swedish bakeries around the US, ask where they get their kransekake forms and what style they are? Someone's got to have a source.

True, though I've had trouble finding people who even remebered the older style pans.

But, worth a shot.

Call the Royal Copenhagen Shop in Solvang, CA (805-688-4714). They should either have them or be able to point you to another shop in Solvang that has them. Failing that, call Mrs Youna Karlsson at the Berolina Bakery in Glendale, CA (818-249-6506) and ask them where they get theirs.

Kransekake is Norwegian, not Swedish (Berolina) or Danish (the entire town of Solvang), but they may be able to point you in the right direction. There are no Norwegian bakeries in LA, and I'm too long removed from Minneapolis to be able to help you there.

Thank you - those are both really good leads. I'll probably try to follow them after I get out of court tomorrow.
