Before my day went to hell, I did actually mean to write a more positive post.

So, about time I did that.

Lisa and I went and caught V for Vendetta on some of the AMC movie passes that work occasionally feeds me for jobs well done and favors rendered.

I was, I have to admit, more than a bit skeptical. I love the book. I hated the Matrix sequels. I couldn't imagine a blending of the men behind one and the subject matter of the other would go that well.

Thankfully, I was surprised.

While I think the book is still better in many ways, I'd strongly reccomend that you go see the movie. Even if you haven't read the book.

Hugo Weaving deserves a Best Actor nomination for the incredible amount he emotes and acts without ever allowing his face to be seen throughout the movie. I doubt the Academy will give him one, but he does all the same.

Interesting note: some of the scenes of V are of the first V actor, not of Hugo Weaving, but they have dubbed his voice over them all.

Ah! Thank you. I knew some shots were the other actor, but for some reason my mind blanked on the fact that they could (and did) loop dialog by Weaving.

That would explain at least one of the early scenes, where the person is standing and gesturing, and the voice is speaking, but there's just something a little off about it all. I thought I was just imagining it.
