Mar. 31st, 2006 11:37 pmBefore my day went to hell, I did actually mean to write a more positive post.
So, about time I did that.
Lisa and I went and caught V for Vendetta on some of the AMC movie passes that work occasionally feeds me for jobs well done and favors rendered.
I was, I have to admit, more than a bit skeptical. I love the book. I hated the Matrix sequels. I couldn't imagine a blending of the men behind one and the subject matter of the other would go that well.
Thankfully, I was surprised.
While I think the book is still better in many ways, I'd strongly reccomend that you go see the movie. Even if you haven't read the book.
Hugo Weaving deserves a Best Actor nomination for the incredible amount he emotes and acts without ever allowing his face to be seen throughout the movie. I doubt the Academy will give him one, but he does all the same.

Date: 2006-04-01 07:35 am (UTC)You know what I liked about the movie better than the book? No reading. Seriously, I'm not knocking your opinion, but it tragically falls in line with a ton of other folks who like to tip their heads forward, look at you between their crinkled brow and glasses and stuffishly remark: "You know, the BOOK was much better." yet never key out any reason why.

Date: 2006-04-01 03:43 pm (UTC)If you'd like me to explain why I like the book a bit more, I can, but I also didn't feel like doing a heavy compare and contrast, rather than giving the praise I intended.
