bzarcher: A Sylveon from Pokemon floating in the air, wearing a pair of wingtip glasses (Whoopass)

So, people may know that I have been trained as an A+ tech for about the past 3-4 years, but my employers would never send me to actual certification - just to training courses or CBTs over and over, both at my current place of employment and while I was at Wooster.

I kicked this up repeatedly in meetings with my manager until he finally said "Oh, you want to actually get the test, and not just the training!" and agreed that money for the test was included in my training budget.

I beat hardware with socks full of river rocks on Tuesday.

I passed Software with a bit less glory, but still well above a passing grade, this morning. Both sections took less than 30 minutes for me to complete. (80 questions tests, each time, both of which are supposed to take 90-120 minutes.)

I feel rather satisfied, and just a little bit vindicated, now.

My favorite question on the test was:
"Which two of the following are types of video RAM (choose three)"

Yeah, I had a few like that which I loved, too.

My favorite is one that seems built for dispute:

A customer with a computer which only has usb 1.1 ports wishes to install a USB 2.0 device. What do you do?

Two of the answers were

-Explain to the customer this is not possible

and

-Install a USB 2.0 controller card in an available expansion slot and use that card to install the device.

I'm almost certain they wanted you to answer the former, but the latter seems like the better customer service!
