From an article about the lack of coverage for the OSU game next week:

Zeno’s Victorian Village gets good crowds on game days, but it subscribes only to Time Warner. Owner Dick Allen said he’s holding out hope that an arrangement will be made before next Saturday.

And if not?

"I guess we’ll listen to the radio, drink heavily and imagine it," he said.

They could get one of those electric football sets from our parents' childhood to reenact it as it goes.

Oddly enough, [livejournal.com profile] dklegman and I were talking about that as an option one time, thought I forget exactly how we got there.

Radio commentary is always better anyway.

*sighs forlornly and skulks off to work on Saturday*

Hockey over the radio is really fun, too.

Though we got HDNet last night, and they actually had the Flyers/Rangers game, and damn if that did not look sharp.

Yes. Because on the radio, you get Mike Lang.

"Scratch my back with a hacksaw!"

Well, shit, it (listening to the radio) works in Pittsburgh.

Though admittedly, the usual tactic is to have the TV on, but muted. Shouldn't they be able to get the game on a local over-the-air broadcast? Or am I missing something?

For some reason, ESPN is only carrying that game on ESPNU - not even on GamePlan or the Local ESPN+ crew they normally loan to 10TV for local rebroadcast.

I was at O'shansomethingorothers for the Severe Beating of MSU. :(

I'm up here visiting my sister. I'm not a fan of Michigan State, but I'm sure as hell not a fan of Ohio. Oh well, that's what happens when a team tries to play football with their heads firmly entrenched in their own asses.

Oh? You didn't mention you'd be in Columbus - we'd have had you over.

Yeah, MSU is broken, and I don't think John L. Smith's gonna get anything else out of them this year.

Heck, this may just plain be John L. Smith's last year.

Yea, I'm visiting family. However, if I move to michigan, as I plan to, I'll be in Columbus once in a while to visit, and race, so we'll have plenty of chances to hook up. And maybe see if I remember how to play 40k. :P

Sounds good. :D

Heck, no 40k required, we could just cook some dinner and BS a little.

Perhaps.

However, I'm thinking of selling all my 40k stuff except for my 'nids and a few choice chaos pieces. And starting a new nid army. Probably more for building than playing. If so, we might have to pull off an invasion. :D

Or, if I end up getting into Warmachine, we might have to see about that.

Could be fun!

Much as I like playing, some of the weekends when people get together and just paint an' bitch is pretty good times, too.
