Mar. 24th, 2007 11:16 pmHmmm.
This weekend, so far, was spent Friday taking my sister out to dinner, seeing 300 (Go see it. It's a good waste of a few hours, especially if they happen to be showing it in IMAX), and catching up on things, and then 2 3 hour car rides with my parents, my uncle's 50th birthday party (a suprise for him that we actually pulled off rather well!) and catching up on things.
During this, my sister mentioned that one of the careers she's been thinking about was to work as a copy-proofer/editor, or maybe as a book reviewer/critic.
And that's when I thought Hey, I know people who do that for a living already.
If any of those on my friends list who work in the literary field would be willing to maybe talk to my sister over email, would you mind letting me know?
Yaaaaay!
In other news, I have birthday cake.
CAAAAAAAAAAAKE!

Date: 2007-03-25 05:55 pm (UTC)Well-done surprise parties are the best. I had one done for me about a month and a half after my birthday once--that surprised me!--and a friend had pretty much the best ever: her boyfriend's mother contacted her to help her set up a surprise birthday party for her boyfriend, and she did, only to find out it was actually a surprise engagement party for the two of them. They figured the only way of genuinely surprising her was to have her plan it herself. Quite clever!
I'm sure your life has been enriched by my rambling. Absolutely sure.

It wasn't until I got older that I realized that these sorts of things were usually discussed a bit before the question was actually asked, so that one usually had a sense of what the answer would be. :) (Of course, I always imagined my process of getting engaged would be of the sort where I rolled over one morning and said, "Huh, I guess we could get married," but then I somehow landed myself someone considerably more romantic than I am.)

Date: 2007-03-28 05:56 pm (UTC)Not to compete with your sister or anything, but could you possibly network me into that group of people in the literary field? Copy editing (ie fixing mistakes before book goes to print) has always been a possible goal for me. Recently, as in the past few months, the idea of being an editor (person who reads stories/books, determines if they're good for print) has really grown on me. I believe that's been spurred on by all the great short stories I've been reading through a class.
